School’s out, but the work continues

It is hard to believe we are at the end of another school year. As is true at the end of every school year, it is a time to celebrate, refresh, and look ahead. At CIESC, summer is a very busy time as we provide programs that greatly benefit students and educators.

From a student perspective, we provide Indiana’s largest Driver Education program, which serves approximately 4,500 students per year with the majority of those students participating during the summer months.

Our Indiana Online program, which provides over 100 online courses for high school students in the summer, already has over 27,000 enrollments with students taking at least one summer course with a licensed Indiana teacher starting on June 6. Students are able to work ahead, take a course not offered at their school, or recover a credit all while traveling, working, or enjoying their summer.

From an educator perspective, our Keep Indiana Learning (KInL) professional development and networking service, which had over 50,000 educators utilize the site this year, will continue to be very active this summer providing numerous professional learning opportunities to Indiana educators. This happens through in-person training, which will include supporting the training of instructional coaches as part of the new Indiana Literacy Cadre and Indiana STEM Cadre partnership with the IDOE, CELL, and all other Indiana educational service centers. Another significant support for Indiana educators this summer will be through our KInL #VirtuallyDifferent Conference on June 14-15. The #VirtuallyDifferent Conference provides a comprehensive schedule of professional learning options in six specific strands.

Our Cooperative Purchasing department and our newly formed Partnerships department, which is a collaborative effort of the Education Service Centers of Indiana (ESC of I), will continue to make sure districts get the best pricing possible on products and services.

Our Media Services department will focus its summer efforts on finalizing several compliance training videos. We hope to roll out an Indiana Compliance Library in the near future that districts will be able to utilize to meet all of Indiana’s compliance requirements.

Our Executive Coaching/Mentoring program will continue to support Indiana administrators through the summer in enhancing their leadership skills.

We are also excited to host many activities in our state-of-the-art conferencing facilities throughout the summer.

CIESC is committed to support and serve Indiana students and educators through the summer to make sure the next school year gets off to a great start! Please have a safe and restful summer!
