| Blog Content | The new DESIS guides families from enrollment to license INDIANAPOLIS, IN — July 13, 2026 — DriverEd Safety, a department of the nonprofit, Central Indiana Educational Service Center (CIESC), has launched its new Driver Education Student Information System (DESIS), a custom-built platform designed to improve how students and families navigate every stage of the driver education process. The platform launches alongside Indiana's updated driver licensing legislation, which took effect July 1, 2026. The new law allows eligible teens who successfully complete a certified driver education program to obtain their driver's license sooner, making access to quality driver education more important than ever. Developed in-house specifically for DriverEd Safety's operations, DESIS replaces the organization's previous third-party student management system with a platform that CIESC can continuously enhance to better serve students, parents, and instructors. By managing the system internally, DriverEd Safety can respond more quickly to program needs, introduce new features, and create a more connected experience throughout a student's driver education journey. DESIS introduces three core operational enhancements to support student and family success:
TeLisa Hill, Director of DriverEd Safety states, "We built DESIS with families in mind. We understand that the driver education process can feel overwhelming with the deadlines, scheduling requirements, and documents to keep track of. Our goal is to take the guesswork out of the process by giving students and parents one place to see exactly where they are, what comes next, and what they need to do to stay on track." "DESIS represents our commitment to innovating to meet student and family needs without compromising on quality or accessibility,” shares Dr. Andrew Melin, CIESC Executive Director, “By developing this platform in-house, we lower operational costs to keep pricing sustainable for families."
